Cirrus Films is a Sydney based Production Company that specialises in Film, TV and Music Videos.
Established in 2014 by Vanessa Gazy and Tim Russell, Cirrus Films has produced acclaimed short films including HIGHWAY, directed by Gazy and produced by Russell, was nominated for Best Short Film by the Australian Directors Guild 2018, sold internationally to Amazon and HBO Europe and is in Feature development with Goalpost Pictures (TOP END WEDDING, THE SAPPHIRES). THE DRIVER, directed by Russell and produced by collaborator Michael Wark, premiered at Flickerfest and was short listed for the prestigious Lexus Australia Short Film Fellowship run by the Sydney Film Festival in 2017.
Cirrus Films collaborated with Lisa Mitchell and Warner Music for the music videos WARHOL and WARRIORS from the album WARRIORS in 2017. Directed by Vanessa Gazy and produced by Tim Russell, WARRIORS was nominated for Best Editing in a Music Video from the Australian Screen Editors Guild in 2018 and screened at film festivals including Hollyshorts and SoundKilda.

A graduate of Swinburne's Film & Television School, Tim has produced award winning short films that have screened at festivals across the world including the BFI London Film Festival, Warsaw Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, Palm Springs Shortsfest and Flickerfest. HIGHWAY, directed by Vanessa Gazy, was nominated for Best Direction in a Short Film by the Australian Directors Guild in 2018, sold to Amazon Prime and HBO Europe and is development as a Feature Film with acclaimed producers Goalpost Pictures (UPGRADE, THE SAPPHIRES). Tim is serving as an Executive Producer on the feature film. Other shorts include THE DRIVER, short listed for the Lexus Australia Short Film Fellowship run by the Sydney Film Festival in 2017 and 27, screened at St Kilda Film Festival and shot by Emmy/ACCTA Award Winning Cinematographer Adam Arkapaw (THE KING, TRUE DETECTIVE).
Tim has also carved a name for himself in advertising producing commercials for creative agencies Cobox, Oxygen360, Kollectve and Common Ventures. Clients have included Gumtree, Fetch, Channel Ten, Contiki, Tourism Northern Territory and the Sydney Opera House. Highlights include Tourism NT's campaign GET OUT OF THE STATE YOU'RE IN which was nominated by the B&T Awards and Mumbrella for Best Advertising Campaign of the Year in 2017. Tim has produced award winning music videos including WARRIORS for Lisa Mitchell and Warner Music, which was nominated for an Australian Screen Editors Award for Best Music Video in 2018 and screened in competition at the HollyShorts Film Festival and SoundKilda.
Alongside his own projects, Tim has a background in narrative film development and production having worked for companies including River Road Entertainment (TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN), Porchlight Films (THE KETTERING INCIDENT, ANIMAL KINGDOM), eOne Entertainment, Hopscotch Features and Screen Australia.
Tim has a number of long form projects in development with emerging Australian talent and prides himself on creating bold and original films, music videos and commercials.

Vanessa Gazy is an award-winning Australian writer/director represented by Matt Rosen (Grandview LA) and Roger Green (WME).
Vanessa grew up in Canberra, where she graduated from high school with Dux of the College. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) at the University of Sydney, graduating with Distinction. She completed her Masters in Directing at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in 2014, winning the school’s prestigious Kenneth B. Myer Award for Exceptional Talent upon graduating. Her first short film FOAL is based on her Shoalhaven Literary Award-winning short story Adam's Window. FOAL was nominated for both Australian Director’s Guild and Australian Writer’s Guild (AWGIE) Awards in 2015. It has screened at numerous festivals both in Australia and internationally, and is currently available to view on ABC iView.
Vanessa’s 2018 ADG Award-nominated second short film HIGHWAY, produced by Tim Russell & Cirrus Films, is a psychological thriller starring AACTA Award-winning (Best Actress) Odessa Young and financed through an ACT Screen Arts Fund grant. HIGHWAY has been an official selection at over fifteen film festivals to date, including the BFI London Film Festival in 2016, Warsaw Film Festival (2016), Palm Springs Shortfest (2017), Hollyshorts (2017), Fantastic Fest (2017), Flickerfest (2017), Razor Reel Flanders Film Festival (2017), Cleveland International Film Festival (2018), Landshut Film Festival (2018), and Nevermore Film Festival (2018). Vanessa is now developing HIGHWAY into an exciting high-concept feature with Goalpost Pictures. The project was awarded Screen Australia development funding in July 2018.
In 2017, Vanessa was one of five applicants selected from 935 to develop her psychological thriller mini-series concept ID with Endemol Shine as part of the Screen Australia Gender Matters initiative Smart For A Girl. She has recently completed her new short film SHILOH, which premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival 2018 as part of the Accelerator program. She is also a recipient of an ADG Commercial and Content mentorship with Scoundrel Projects in 2018.
Alongside writing and directing, Vanessa is a Sundance 2014 Short Film Audience Award-winning producer, for Matthew Lessner’s short film CHAPEL PERILOUS. In 2013 she co-produced Lessner's feature film AUTOMATIC AT SEA which had its US premiere at Slamdance 2017.
